I met Willie when I was out hiking on my family’s land on the Western Slope in Colorado. He was visiting friends whose land abutted our parcel, and they were spending the afternoon riding (horseback). I was just a little kid, but I was already a big fan. He had a nice presence – real “salt of the earth”.
